Dreams of In-convenience

In my experience, there is nothing convenient about these occurrences – they serve solely, to further un-resolve and compound waking anxiety.” - Priyanka Dasgupta 'Dreams of In-convenience', is an immersive sound and video installation, including monitors, projections and two large-scale, shadow puppet scenes, centered around a quasi-fictional character. A loose, circular narrative surrounds the protagonists in the work and strings the individual pieces together. Overwhelmed by her waking life, the female protagonist attempts to resolve her anxieties through her dreams, only to find that in this attempt, she ends up losing pieces of herself. The male puppets, one holding her heart, the other, her brain, personify the two extremes of the anxieties faced by her, reminding us of what separates desire and expectation, home and exile.
